Responsibilities
- Independently create injection mold designs using CAD software
- Establish tooling specifications and preliminary tool designs prior to request for quotation
- Advise mechanical designers on potential tooling risks before project initiation
- Evaluate design for manufacturability and mold-flow analysis reports to detect cosmetic, dimensional, assembly, or molding concerns in collaboration with vendors
- Troubleshoot and resolve tooling challenges to reduce design modifications and limit delays
- Develop a repository of lessons learned and a molding database to support future product generations
- Lead the adoption of advanced tooling and molding technologies to improve project outcomes
- Conduct quarterly evaluations of tooling suppliers' performance
