About the Role

The selected candidate will lead mechanical design efforts for structural systems and enclosures, performing analysis, prototyping, and testing to meet performance and reliability standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed mechanical designs for structural frameworks and protective housings
  • Perform stress and thermal analysis on components using simulation tools
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings and specifications
  • Support prototype fabrication and conduct validation testing
  • Identify and resolve design issues during development and testing phases
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety requirements
  • Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, and performance
  • Work closely with vendors and manufacturing partners
  • Apply principles of tolerance analysis and material selection
  • Lead design reviews and present technical findings to stakeholders
  • Track project timelines and deliverables for assigned tasks
  • Incorporate feedback from testing into design improvements
  • Utilize CAD software for 3D modeling and assembly design
  • Contribute to risk assessments and failure mode analysis
  • Maintain accurate records of design iterations and changes
  • Support certification and regulatory compliance efforts
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities for component sourcing
  • Apply knowledge of mechanical systems to solve complex problems
  • Ensure designs meet environmental and operational requirements
  • Participate in root cause analysis for field issues
  • Stay current with advancements in materials and manufacturing methods
  • Assist in the development of test fixtures and procedures
  • Promote engineering best practices across the team
  • Interface with quality assurance during product verification

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree in mechanical or structural engineering
  • Experience with dynamic load analysis
  • Knowledge of shock and vibration testing standards
  • Proficiency in simulation software like ANSYS or Abaqus
  • Experience with rapid prototyping technologies
  • Background in product certification processes
  • Familiarity with systems engineering practices
  • Experience in a regulated industry environment
  • Understanding of EMI/RFI shielding requirements
  • Exposure to DFMEA and design validation planning
