About the Role
The mechanical engineer will lead the design and development of mechanical components for automated parcel systems, from concept through production, using engineering analysis and iterative testing to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop mechanical designs for parcel processing equipment
- Perform engineering calculations to validate structural integrity
- Create 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings
- Collaborate with electrical and software teams on system integration
- Support prototyping and iterative testing of mechanical systems
- Conduct failure analysis and implement design improvements
- Ensure compliance with safety and industry standards
- Work with suppliers to source and qualify components
- Lead design for manufacturability and assembly
- Manage engineering change orders throughout product lifecycle
- Use CAD software to simulate mechanical performance
- Optimize designs for cost, weight, and efficiency
- Participate in design reviews and technical documentation
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues in field deployments
- Support validation and verification testing protocols
- Apply principles of kinematics and dynamics to system design
- Evaluate materials and manufacturing methods
- Maintain design documentation and revision control
- Coordinate with production teams during ramp-up
- Assist in developing test fixtures and procedures
- Integrate sensors and actuators into mechanical systems
- Ensure designs meet environmental and operational requirements
- Monitor supplier quality and performance
- Drive continuous improvement in mechanical subsystems
- Support customer-specific engineering requests
