Role Overview
This position is for a Mechanical Engineer focused on fire protection system design and cost estimation. You will work remotely, developing detailed fire sprinkler layouts for buildings primarily located in New York City, ensuring all designs adhere to local regulations and national safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop accurate fire sprinkler system designs using AutoCAD, Revit, and MEP modeling tools.
- Perform material take-offs and cost estimates using Planswift and Excel.
- Conduct hydraulic calculations with Fire Elite or similar software to validate system performance.
- Review architectural and mechanical blueprints to integrate sprinkler systems effectively.
- Ensure all designs comply with New York City Building Codes and NFPA standards.
- Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and clients through remote collaboration.
Required Skills and Experience
- Background in mechanical engineering with a focus on fire sprinkler system design and estimation.
- Hands-on experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and MEP software for system modeling.
- Proficiency in cost estimation tools including Planswift and Excel.
- Familiarity with fire protection codes, especially NYC-specific requirements and NFPA guidelines.
- Ability to run hydraulic calculations using Fire Elite or comparable platforms.
