Sonoco, a company built by its people and focused on brilliant solutions, is hiring a Material Handler for a Monday-Friday, 10-hour day shift at our manufacturing facility in Hartselle, AL. In this onsite role, you will operate forklifts to manage the flow of raw materials and finished goods, ensuring operations run smoothly, safely, and on schedule.

What You'll Do

Operate forklifts daily to move raw materials, supplies, and finished goods.
Unload, receive, inspect, and stage incoming raw materials, packaging, and chemicals.
Remove finished products from production, ensuring proper identification, banding, and labeling per customer specs.
Stage and load finished goods and materials according to the warehouse production schedule.
Coordinate processed scrap material, including banding, weighing, storing, and loading trucks.
Prepare and maintain accurate documentation for all incoming and outgoing materials and goods.
Conduct pre-shift safety inspections and routine preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
Communicate machine malfunctions and pertinent information to the next shift.
Perform clean-up and housekeeping duties to maintain a safe work environment.
Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and comply with established safety practices.

What We're Looking For

Industrial or manufacturing forklift experience.
High school education, GED, or equivalent work experience.
Experience operating forklifts in a fast-paced production setting.
Possession of a valid state driver's license.
Willingness to complete on-the-job and classroom training for forklift certification.
Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, including following all PPE rules and guidelines.
Working knowledge of forklift maintenance, operations, and related regulations for batteries and LP gas.
Familiarity with banders, stretch wrappers, and other packaging processes.
