The Symicor Group is seeking a Market President to lead commercial lending efforts in Grand Rapids, MI. In this onsite leadership role, you will be responsible for generating and servicing a portfolio of commercial loans while managing and developing a team of Relationship Managers.
What You'll Do
- Develop and manage commercial loan accounts that meet lending requirements and provide maximum profitability at minimum risk.
- Solicit new commercial clients and obtain quality new business through calls, referrals, and cross-selling efforts.
- Obtain and maintain COIs and attend various networking events in the assigned geographic area.
- Generate a wide variety of commercial and real estate loans.
- Contribute to deposit growth by cross-selling and promoting additional banking products.
- Collect and analyze information reflecting the current creditworthiness of customers and the merits of existing loans.
- Hold accountability for all aspects of the market’s commercial lending performance.
- Participate in strategic planning for the local market.
- Develop and implement marketing plans and selling strategies for the commercial lending team.
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of Relationship Managers to achieve assigned goals.
- Review and analyze title reports or surveys to determine issues and potential risks.
- Analyze applicants' financial status, credit, and property evaluation to determine loan feasibility.
- Meet with applicants to obtain information for loan applications and answer questions.
- Guide loans through the approval and closing process.
- Explain, promote, cross-sell, or refer bank, insurance, and trust products or services.
- Represent the Bank in the community through professional and civic involvement.
What We're Looking For
- Seven or more years of direct lending or credit support-related experience with a focus on business relationships.
- Proven background in generating both CRE and C&I loans of between $12MM and $15MM in annual production.
- Experience analyzing financial statements.
- Familiarity with the sales, loan processing, and closing processes.
- Extensive knowledge of Commercial Banking products and services, including C&I, Owner-Occupied, and Investment Commercial Real Estate loans.
- Thorough knowledge of Federal and State regulations covering commercial banking activities.
- Ability to expand loans, client relationships, and cross-sell bank products.
- Strong analytical ability with effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Efficient use of Outlook, Word, and Excel applications.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
Nice to Have
- A bachelor’s degree in banking, finance, or a related field.
- Formal credit training and/or underwriting knowledge and experience.
