Zeeco is hiring a Manufacturing Automations Designer

Responsibilities

  • Create jigs, fixtures, tooling, and automated systems to boost manufacturing productivity and ensure high-quality output
  • Develop and deploy production molds, including those made from metal or via 3D printing, for use in forming, casting, fabrication, and composite manufacturing
  • Produce precise 2D and 3D CAD models and technical drawings for components, assemblies, and production machinery
  • Support additive manufacturing efforts by designing, testing, and integrating 3D-printed parts into production workflows
  • Evaluate existing manufacturing methods and introduce changes to improve speed, lower costs, and minimize waste
  • Work closely with engineering, production, and shop teams to ensure designs are feasible and optimized for real-world manufacturing
  • Conduct practical, on-site technical evaluations of equipment and production processes
  • Support automation and capital projects from initial concept through to final implementation
  • Generate and manage documentation for manufacturing processes, including assembly, fabrication, and testing procedures
  • Test and refine designs through shop floor feedback, prototyping, and iterative development
  • Update technical drawings in response to feedback from internal teams and customers
  • Forecast time, materials, and labor needs for manufacturing projects
  • Apply Lean principles to streamline operations and eliminate inefficiencies
  • Assist manufacturing operations with problem-solving, training, and ongoing process improvements

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop jigs, fixtures, tooling, and automation solutions to improve manufacturing efficiency and product quality
  • Design and implement production molds, including metal and 3D-printed mold systems, for fabrication, forming, casting, or composite-related manufacturing needs
  • Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings for parts, assemblies, and production equipment
  • Support 3D printing initiatives, including designing, prototyping, and implementing printed components for production use
  • Analyze manufacturing processes and implement improvements to increase throughput and reduce cost and waste
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and shop personnel to ensure designs are practical and optimized for fabrication
  • Perform hands-on technical analysis of equipment and manufacturing processes
  • Assist with capital improvement and automation projects from concept through implementation
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including fabrication, assembly, and test instructions
  • Validate designs through shop support, testing, and iteration
  • Review and revise drawings based on internal and customer feedback
  • Estimate production times, materials, and labor requirements for projects
  • Apply Lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and improve workflow
  • Support shop floor operations including troubleshooting, training, and continuous improvement initiatives
