Stanford Health Care is hiring a Manager - Patient Financial Clearance (Remote) to lead and optimize the front-end patient financial clearance process. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all functions related to pre-registration, payer authorization, and financial counseling to ensure efficient revenue cycle performance and data quality across the enterprise.
What You'll Do
- Ensure financial clearance functions are performed efficiently throughout Patient Access services, including maintaining an adequately trained staff for inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Oversee pre-registration tasks such as insurance verification, securing payer authorizations, and collecting payments to financially secure accounts.
- Provide a consistent financial clearance service approach for patients and families from initial contact through charging.
- Maintain complete records of policies and procedures, ensure staff competency, and provide effective leadership, training, and coaching.
- Design, develop, and monitor performance improvement processes for quality, accuracy, productivity, and timeliness.
- Stay current on all regulatory and accrediting agency requirements, including Federal and State regulations and Joint Commission standards.
- Identify revenue cycle issues and lead root cause analysis and problem resolution.
- Design and implement plans to meet departmental goals and support the Director in strategy development, budgeting, and reporting.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, healthcare administration, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education/experience).
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in revenue cycle management (Pre-Registration, Authorization, Financial Counseling, Billing) in a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of Hospital Policies, HIPAA regulations, and Governmental/non-governmental requirements for patient financial clearance.
- Knowledge of Epic Registration and billing systems, third-party payer rules, ICD-9/CPT coding, and medical terminology.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making abilities with the capacity to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently, facilitate groups, and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to apply Lean/project management protocols, manage multiple projects, and analyze data to implement countermeasures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project and the ability to analyze and present revenue write-off data.

Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation is generally starting at $55.85 - $74.00 per hour.
