Responsibilities
- Lead, guide, and support a team of mobile engineers, focusing on their professional growth, skill development, and inclusive work environment.
- Drive hiring initiatives for engineering roles and oversee structured onboarding and training for new team members.
- Collaborate with product, design, data, and editorial teams throughout the product lifecycle to align technical and business goals.
- Oversee technical planning and execution of software initiatives, leading Agile rituals such as stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Perform in-depth code and architecture reviews, delivering actionable feedback to ensure code quality, security, and system integrity.
- Identify and implement improvements in engineering processes to increase delivery speed, reliability, and product quality.
- Develop tools and automation to resolve recurring development challenges and improve the overall developer experience.
- Manage incident response for critical mobile application and infrastructure issues, ensuring timely resolution.
- Supervise external developers and third-party vendors, ensuring alignment with code standards and project timelines.

- This is a full-time, exempt position.
- This role allows remote work with NPR approval. Based in Washington, D.C., employees may choose to work remotely within the U.S., on-site at an NPR facility (subject to space and approval), or in a hybrid model.
