What You'll Do
Lead the design and execution of market-driven initiatives that improve rural livelihoods in Uganda. You'll identify economic opportunities by assessing community needs and constraints, then develop strategies that connect smallholder farmers and local entrepreneurs to inclusive markets.
Guide the establishment and governance of Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), ensuring they are financially sound, inclusive, and linked to formal financial systems. Support community facilitators and village champions through training in financial literacy, risk management, and life skills to ensure long-term sustainability.
Design and implement value-chain strategies that strengthen market linkages between farmers, input suppliers, and buyers. Promote climate-resilient agricultural practices and agro-processing methods within economic programs. Facilitate demand-driven vocational training for women and youth to expand income opportunities.
Integrate digital financial tools into community systems, ensuring accessibility and usability. Provide technical guidance on digital platforms, troubleshoot challenges, and monitor adoption. Build partnerships with SACCOs, microfinance institutions, and banks to expand access to financial services.
Develop frameworks for participant selection and community engagement that prioritize transparency and equity. Support field teams in creating implementation plans and track progress through remote monitoring systems. Collect and analyze data to measure economic outcomes and refine program approaches.
Lead reporting and evaluation efforts, producing insights that reflect both quantitative results and community experiences. Engage local leaders and government stakeholders throughout implementation to ensure alignment and ownership. Uphold principles of gender equity, youth inclusion, and conflict sensitivity in all activities.
