Remote (Global) Full-time

Camunda is hiring a Manager, Engineering

About the Role

Camunda is hiring a Manager, Engineering to lead the team that builds the common canvas experience for modeling BPMN and process orchestration. You will combine thoughtful people leadership with solid engineering judgment to help a diverse, remote team ship a high-quality modeling experience, collaborate closely with Product and Design, and continuously improve how teams build and operate process orchestration at scale.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and grow a high-performing team responsible for the modelling canvas used to design and orchestrate processes (BPMN and related notations).
  • Own delivery and quality for your area: align work to a clear roadmap, balance new feature development with UX and technical excellence, and ensure incremental, safe, and predictable shipping.
  • Partner closely with Product Management and Design to shape the next-generation canvas vision, clarify requirements, make pragmatic trade-offs, and ensure solving real customer problems.
  • Support operations and incident response for your services: work with your team to define on-call/escalation practices, respond to issues, and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
  • Develop and enable your team members, providing regular feedback, coaching, and growth opportunities.
  • Contribute to hiring and engineering culture by partnering with Talent Acquisition, designing fair, skills-based interviews, and sharing best practices with other managers.

What We're Looking For

  • Ability and/or willingness to use our product.
  • Experience leading software engineers as a people manager, including responsibility for performance, mentoring, and day-to-day team health.
  • Proven track record delivering user-facing product features end-to-end in collaboration with Product and Design, ideally in a SaaS or cloud-based environment.
  • Solid understanding of modern engineering practices (e.g., code review, automated testing, continuous delivery, observability) and how to apply them pragmatically within a team.
  • Comfort with incident and escalation management: ability to help teams prioritize, respond under pressure, and communicate clearly and transparently with internal stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in a remote-first setting, including giving and receiving candid feedback, aligning people around goals, and keeping stakeholders informed without unnecessary meetings.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with developer tools, modeling tools, design systems, or visual editors (e.g., diagramming, canvas-based UIs, BPMN/DMN tools).
  • Familiarity with process orchestration / BPMN or workflow engines (Camunda or similar).
  • Background working on highly interactive front-end applications (e.g., TypeScript/React or similar modern web stacks) in partnership with UX.
  • Experience leading the development of user-facing authoring tools, with direct responsibility for integrating AI-driven capabilities (e.g. intelligent assistance, content generation, validation, or automation).
  • Experience working in or with distributed, multi-team product organizations, where shared components (like a common canvas) are used across multiple products.
  • Experience with encouraging the adoption of AI usage within their organization.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Remote & Flexible: Work from anywhere with home office budget, co-working space support, and flexible time off.
  • In Person Connection: Annual Kickoff, team offsites, Camundi Connection Budgets for meetups and local gatherings.
  • Health & Wellbeing: Locally tailored healthcare, Modern Health for global mental wellbeing, Live Well Lifestyle Spending Account (LSA) launching in 2026.
  • Financial Security: Retirement and pension plans (often with company contributions), plus life and disability insurance where relevant.
  • Professional Growth: Up to $/€/£1,000 per year for self-driven learning: courses, certifications, books.
  • Compensation: United States: $172,600.00 to $278,300.00; United Kingdom: £108,400.00 to £178,300.00; Singapore: S$214,400.00 to S$321,500.00 + equity: Equity (where applicable) through Virtual Stock Option Plan (VSOP).
