NerdWallet is hiring a Manager, Corporate Accounting & Compliance

Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of critical general ledger functions within a high-growth, complex organization
  • Serve as a key driver in scaling accounting operations following multiple acquisitions
  • Progressively expand responsibility to oversee broader aspects of the monthly close process
  • Contribute to building a more efficient, scalable, and audit-ready accounting function
  • Lead end-to-end accounting for payroll, equity, leases, accruals, and intercompany consolidation
  • Manage the complete accounting cycle for assigned areas, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and internal reporting
  • Ensure financial outputs are accurate, complete, and delivered on time in compliance with GAAP and internal policies
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to manage close timelines and ensure on-time delivery of accounting deliverables
  • Oversee internal reporting and flux analysis coordination across the accounting team
  • Act as a central operator in the close process, promoting accountability across cross-functional stakeholders
  • Proactively identify automation opportunities to streamline the close and reporting workflows
  • Leverage internal AI tools to improve accuracy, reduce manual work, and optimize accounting processes
  • Test and deploy scalable solutions to modernize accounting operations with leadership support
  • Serve as the main liaison for auditors on assigned areas, supporting PBCs, walkthroughs, and testing
  • Maintain and strengthen SOX controls across owned processes and support broader close controls
  • Ensure all documentation is thorough, accurate, and prepared for audit review
  • Support M&A integration efforts by aligning acquired entities with existing close and system processes
  • Help implement new accounting procedures with a focus on scalability and adherence to company standards
  • Supervise and mentor 2–3 accountants, providing guidance, performance feedback, and development support
  • Foster discipline, organization, and high performance within the team, particularly during peak close periods
  • Partner with FP&A on accruals, variance explanations, and budget-to-actual analysis
  • Collaborate with Financial Systems and HRIS teams on payroll, equity, and system-related projects
  • Work with Legal and business units on accounting treatments for accruals and other financial matters
