Lead the financial management of nonprofit clients as a Manager/Controller within a growing outsourced accounting and CFO services practice. This fully remote position centers on delivering accurate financial reporting, guiding strategic financial decisions, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. You will oversee the preparation of financial statements, forecasts, budgets, and compliance reports while advising leadership on fiscal sustainability and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the creation and review of financial statements, forecasts, and regulatory filings, ensuring alignment with accounting standards and client needs.
- Develop and implement internal control frameworks covering budgeting, cash management, credit policies, and accounting procedures.
- Guide financial planning and investment strategies, including capital procurement and surplus allocation.
- Monitor financial KPIs and ratios to assess organizational health and recommend corrective actions.
- Supervise accounting and finance staff, providing performance feedback and supporting professional development.
- Advise executive teams and boards on short- and long-term financial goals, policies, and risk management.
- Prepare and deliver presentations for stakeholders, including board members, funders, and financial partners.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is required, along with at least six years of experience in accounting, audit, or financial reporting. Prior experience managing teams is essential. Nonprofit sector experience is strongly preferred, as is familiarity with FASB or other comprehensive bases of accounting.
- CPA certification or completion of the CPA exam is a plus.
- Public accounting background is advantageous.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Intacct, and Microsoft Excel is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple clients and deadlines efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage clearly and respectfully with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success in building client trust and delivering high-quality service under pressure.
