Allegheny Health Network is hiring a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist to join a team providing essential diagnostic services. You will perform MRI examinations for Veteran patients as part of the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program, ensuring safe, accurate, and timely imaging under the general supervision of a Radiologist.
What You'll Do
- Perform diagnostic MRI examinations following physician orders, established protocols, and VA standards of care.
- Prepare and set up MRI rooms, ensuring all equipment and supplies are available and properly maintained.
- Screen, identify, and verify patients using approved VA patient-identification procedures.
- Explain MRI procedures to patients, secure cooperation, and provide care that ensures patient safety, comfort, and dignity.
- Adhere strictly to VA MRI safety requirements, including magnetic field safety, infection control, and patient screening.
- Position patients and select imaging protocols and technical parameters to ensure optimal diagnostic image quality.
- Review MRI images for completeness, diagnostic quality, correct labeling, and proper annotation before submission.
- Accurately document procedures and clinical information in the VA Electronic Health Record system.
- Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA, the Privacy Act, and VA policies.
- Complete all required VA mandatory training, quality assurance activities, and performance improvement documentation.
- Promptly report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or patient incidents to supervisory staff and complete required VA reporting.
- Complete required organizational compliance education for Joint Commission certification and other regulatory bodies.
What We're Looking For
- Current ARRT certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
- Current and in-good-standing state licensure or certification issued by the California Department of Public Health, Radiologic Health Branch.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Demonstrated experience performing MRI examinations in a hospital or clinical environment.
- Ability to work under the general supervision of a Radiologist and manage complex imaging for patients with acute illness, injury, or physical limitations.
- Proficiency in MRI patient positioning, protocol selection, image evaluation, and clinical documentation.
- Completion of a full-time diagnostic radiologic technology training program of at least twenty-four (24) months, evidenced by a certificate or associate degree from a JRCERT-accredited program or another recognized accrediting agency.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate.
- Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Ability to pass/possess a VA Public Trust Clearance.
