BuildingWorks is seeking part-time Local Sales Representatives to generate business opportunities in the commercial construction industry. The role focuses on leveraging existing relationships with general contractors, building owners, and facilities teams to introduce BuildingWorks’ closeout documentation services and earn commission on secured contracts.
Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue opportunities with general contractors and building owners in your market
- Reach out to existing contacts and build new relationships through local industry events, trade associations, and targeted outreach
- Generate qualified project opportunities for BuildingWorks
- Develop relationships with project executives, project managers, owner's representatives, facilities directors, and capital project managers
- Serve as the local point of contact for BuildingWorks
- Qualify opportunities based on project size ($5M+ with complex MEP systems), timeline (engaged before substantial completion), and fit (commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, or mixed-use)
- Focus on projects where BuildingWorks can deliver the most value
- Set up initial meetings and facilitate introductions between prospects and the BuildingWorks team
- Participate in discovery calls, help prepare proposals, and support the sales process through contract signing
- Allow the BuildingWorks team to handle scoping, pricing, and contracting while focusing on relationships and introductions
- Track active and upcoming construction projects in your market
- Keep BuildingWorks informed about which contractors are active, which owners are building, and where to focus efforts
Requirements
- 5+ years in commercial construction, project management, or a related role in your market
- Existing relationships with general contractors, building owners, owner's representatives, or facilities teams
- A network you can activate without starting from zero
- Understanding of construction project phases and closeout processes
- Credibility when engaging with project executives or facilities directors
Preferred Qualifications
- Current or former project managers, project executives, or estimators with general contractors
- Owner's representatives or construction managers who know both sides of the table
- Facilities or capital project managers with owner organizations
- Construction industry consultants, technology salespeople, or industry service providers
- Recently retired construction professionals with strong relationships

Compensation
Commission-only position with no base salary. Earn a percentage of contract value on projects originated; typical contract values range from $15,000 to $40,000+, with higher fees for larger healthcare and institutional projects; commission rates discussed during interview based on level of involvement

Remote (Country) — West (open to candidates from other cities and locations) — Part-time; designed to be flexible around primary commitments; most successful reps spend 5-10 hours per week
