You will serve as a key legal contributor in a high-velocity AI company, operating remotely while collaborating closely with in-house counsel and leadership. Your work will directly shape how legal compliance is maintained across multiple jurisdictions, with a strong focus on U.S. and Canadian regulatory landscapes.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee corporate compliance requirements and ensure timely filings across states and provinces
- Anticipate legal risks and design systems to prevent compliance failures before they occur
- Perform in-depth research on regulations, consumer protection laws, and product-related legal issues
- Translate complex legal findings into clear, practical guidance for business teams
- Lead investigations into customer escalations and regulatory inquiries, identifying root causes and exposure levels
- Develop and deliver compliance training programs that improve legal awareness company-wide
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Operations to assess new features and workflows for legal alignment
- Convert legal requirements into actionable product and operational changes
- Monitor for potential intellectual property violations and assist in enforcement actions
- Initiate and manage cease-and-desist processes when necessary
- Conduct regular compliance audits across business functions
- Proactively track high-risk areas to maintain standards beyond minimum legal requirements
- Identify repetitive legal tasks and create automated, scalable solutions using AI, low-code platforms, or process redesign
- Help build a modern, efficient, and technology-driven legal function from the ground up
Required Qualifications
- Formal legal education such as a Bachelor of Laws, JD, LLM, or PhD in a legal discipline
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently and solve problems with minimal direction
- Proactive work style—you anticipate needs and resolve issues before escalation
- Strong commitment to closing tasks and following through on every detail
- Exceptional attention to accuracy, especially in regulatory submissions and audit documentation
- Highly organized with the ability to manage deadlines and cross-functional initiatives reliably

Compensation & Benefits
Base salary is determined by skills, experience, location, and market conditions, and may be adjusted over time. Equity grants may be included as part of total compensation.
