Deel is looking for a Legal Intern, Labor Law to join a collaborative project with the Conflict Analytics Lab at Queen's University and Deel Lab. In this role, you will contribute to impactful research and policy publications while assisting in the development of legal compliance technology.
What You'll Do
- Work with the Queen’s University research team for 4-5 weeks or 160-200 hours to produce publications related to labor and employment laws.
- Assist with the development of legal compliance technology by drafting reports on legal doctrines, annotating case law, and consulting on key legal questions for dispute resolution.
- Collaborate with Deel Lab’s experts as needed, applying modern research methods—including empirical methods—to legal and policy research problems.
What We're Looking For
- Completed law school or current enrollment in a law school program.
- Great attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- A strong understanding of the local South African legal system.
- Demonstrated experience with legal and policy research.
- Proactive, autonomous, resilient, and adaptable with a desire for continual professional learning.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Outstanding writing skills in English.
Nice to Have
- Specific knowledge of labor law.
