At Elsevier, the Legal Editor plays a critical role in ensuring our digital content meets the highest editorial standards and addresses the evolving needs of the HR community. You will join the US Content Team to oversee the quality and relevance of our Brightmine product portfolio.
What You'll Do
- Monitor and analyze employment law developments to guarantee timely updates and new content creation.
- Write, edit, and update material on legislation, cases, and best practices with a focus on accuracy and readability.
- Drive content strategy by identifying gaps, proposing new content, and aligning plans with business priorities.
- Peer-review colleagues’ work for tone, effectiveness, grammar, consistency, and house style.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to convey the value proposition of our products.
- Partner with business functions to develop, test, and implement enhancements to our offerings.
- Identify content gaps and prioritize expansion of critical assets to increase our value proposition.
What We're Looking For
- A J.D. or equivalent legal experience.
- Strong proofreading, editing, and writing skills with the ability to make complex HR legal topics accessible.
- Very close attention to detail, accuracy, and editorial consistency.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct legal research, including familiarity with primary and secondary resources.
- Self-motivation with excellent time management and organizational skills to meet content plan milestones.
- A collaborative mindset with ability to lead small teams and work cross-functionally.
- Ability to work with content management systems to upload, edit, and manage online content.
- Openness to innovation, including the use of AI to support editorial workflow efficiencies.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Nice to Have
- A senior-level HR certification (e.g., SPHR or SHRM-SCP), or equivalent degree or practical experience.
- Editorial experience in legal publishing, compensation, or human resources.

Team & Environment
You will work with members of the US Content Team and collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, including the UK content team, product, marketing, sales, and customer success, as well as external experts.

- Primary Location Base Pay Range: Berkeley Heights, NJ (Connell Dr) $84,546 - $135,054
- U.S. National Base Pay Range: $71,600 - $119,400. Geographic differentials may apply.
