About the Role

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is hiring a Leasing Specialist (Natural Resource Specialist 2) for its Southeast Region. You will provide essential office administration for a diverse portfolio of agriculture and non-agriculture leases, serving as the primary contact for the program while collaborating with land managers to ensure compliance and maximize financial returns for the state.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee office administration for agreements, leases, and related documentation for agriculture, telecommunication, special use leases, and land use licenses.
  • Coordinate regional reporting, research, and individual lease analysis while consulting with field staff on lease-related finances.
  • Serve as the lead for the Southeast Region in the agency's data management systems (NaturE/LAMS) for program leases, providing training and support to the team.
  • Manage lease revenue tracking and independently ensure accurate and complete financial account management.
  • Act as the first point of contact for public inquiries about the program, its leases, opportunities, and finances.
  • Collaborate with Region land managers to review leases, conduct audits, and ensure compliance with lease requirements.
  • Provide guidance on appropriate lease templates, forms, and language during the lease development process.

What We're Looking For

  • A bachelor’s degree with major study in natural resources, general agriculture, range management, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with contracts and/or legal documents.
  • Working knowledge of legal descriptions and map interpretation.
  • Experience managing large electronic databases.
  • Experience prioritizing workloads and meeting deliverables on multiple projects with strict and competing deadlines.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to resolve conflicts and communicate with diverse groups.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve departmental goals.
  • Familiarity with RCWs and WACs.
  • Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and other professional software.

  • Ability to perform duties consistent with applicable laws, regulations, and public records policies.

  • Experience with SAP and NaturE document computer programs.
  • Familiarity with agency policies and procedures for Agriculture, Communication sites, Special use, and Mining programs.
