Role Overview
This full-time, permanent position serves as a key resource within the Department of Natural Resources’ Southeast Region, based in Ellensburg, WA. As a Natural Resource Specialist 2 (NRS2), you will manage a diverse portfolio of leases including agricultural, telecommunications, special use, and land use licenses, ensuring adherence to state regulations and internal procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and oversee lease agreements, documentation, and compliance for multiple program areas.
- Lead regional efforts in lease data management using NaturE and LAMS systems, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
- Analyze lease performance, generate reports, and support financial tracking and revenue management.
- Act as the primary contact for internal and external inquiries related to lease programs, finances, and opportunities.
- Train and support team members in the use of lease management software and best practices.
- Collaborate with field staff on financial aspects of agreements and resolve complex administrative issues.
- Ensure all activities comply with relevant laws, rules, and public records requirements.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in natural resources, agriculture, range management, or a closely related field, or have an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required experience includes working with legal documents, interpreting maps and legal descriptions, managing electronic databases, and handling multiple deadlines. Proficiency in communication, conflict resolution, and teamwork is essential. Familiarity with RCWs, WACs, and standard office software is expected. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and environmental justice is required.
Preferred qualifications include experience with SAP and NaturE systems, as well as knowledge of agency procedures for agriculture, communications, special use, and mining programs.
