This role leads the engineering and design of high-voltage transmission lines ranging from 69kV to 765kV, focusing on technical accuracy, innovation, and efficient project delivery. The engineer will guide design teams, ensuring all work meets industry standards and client specifications while promoting the use of modern tools to streamline processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of transmission line systems across a broad voltage range.
- Mentor junior engineers and support team growth through training and technical guidance.
- Review engineering calculations, PLS-CADD models, and design drawings prepared by others.
- Ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, ASCE, ACI, ANSI, and IEC standards.
- Develop scopes of work, conceptual designs, material specifications, and technical reports.
- Drive automation in engineering workflows using Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel scripting.
- Supervise the use of AI and agentic tools in design processes, ensuring outputs are validated and reliable.
- Coordinate across teams to align design, documentation, and client requirements.
- Follow established engineering processes and promote continuous improvement in project execution.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program and have at least 12 years of direct transmission line design experience. Proficiency in PLS-CADD is required, along with experience managing technical reviews and client-facing deliverables. Familiarity with ArcGIS and project management principles is advantageous.
A Professional Engineer (PE) license and PMP certification are preferred. Experience in construction or field support is a plus. Additional training or experience in computer science, artificial intelligence, or software engineering strengthens eligibility, particularly for oversight of automated engineering systems.
