Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) is hiring a Lead Shift Engineer to provide critical engineering support and maintain the infrastructure of our commercial buildings. In this role, you will ensure the reliability of all building services and uphold the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency.
What You'll Do
- Maintain a close liaison and working relationship with the Engineering Supervisor and Manager.
- Act as a Duty Authorised Person (HV) and issue relevant site Permits as part of the Safe System of Work.
- Complete SFG20 PPMs and reactive tasks, updating the system to meet contractual obligations.
- Ensure daily checks are completed and repair or report any defects using the helpdesk system.
- Manage M&E stock control and report any accidents or near misses to line managers.
- Supervise effective site handovers, including critical plant status, isolations, and housekeeping standards.
- Comply with all statutory and company health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Implement and record statutory inspections, including electrical, fire, and water hygiene records.
- Be available for out-of-hours calls when required, including on-call shifts and public holidays.
- Control third-party contractors, monitoring work performance and standards.
- Inspect and sign off on Specialist Service Provider work, escalating recommendations as needed.
- Maintain 100% uptime criteria for building systems.
- Ensure plant areas, workshops, and rest areas are kept to the highest level of housekeeping.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and document performance reports for your team.
- Operate and troubleshoot all building systems including BMS, electrical monitoring, air handling units, chillers, fire systems, UPS, and low voltage switch panels.
What We're Looking For
- An approved apprenticeship or appropriate experience within Building Services.
- Level 3 - City & Guilds - Building Services Engineering HVAC or Electrical/Mechanical (or equivalent) competency in plumbing, joinery, tiling, and painting.
- 17th/18th Edition IEE certification.
- Health & Safety awareness.
- At least 3 years of engineering experience.
- Experience of managing a small team.
- A proactive approach to undertaking all required tasks.
- Numeracy and literacy skills, with experience of report writing.
- Good computer literacy using Windows Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Effective problem-solving skills and a commitment to excellent customer service.
- Self-motivated, calm under pressure, with a smart and presentable appearance.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working in busy commercial contracts, managing and achieving KPIs and SLAs.
Nice to Have
- BTEC ONC/HNC or HND in Building Services Engineering - HVAC or Electrical/Mechanical or equivalent.
- HVAP Qualification.

Team & Environment

Work Mode
This is an onsite position based in London, GBR.
