California Independent System Operator (California ISO) is hiring a Lead Power Systems Technology Engineer (Hybrid)

Responsibilities

  • Leads functional validation of current and updated systems in Day-Ahead and Real-Time Markets, Market Quality Solutions, and Transmission Network Applications including State Estimator, Real-Time Contingency Analysis, Voltage Stability Analysis, and Dynamic Stability Analysis.
  • Ensures software and network models comply with business rules, policies, and reliability standards for grid operations.
  • Supports operational teams across day-ahead, hour-ahead, and real-time scheduling functions.
  • Delivers training, direction, and supervisory assistance to on-call personnel.
  • Identifies, evaluates, and resolves technical engineering challenges within designated domains.
  • Applies understanding of relevant policies and regulatory considerations in problem-solving.
  • Maintains operational software, investigates system anomalies from multiple perspectives, and collaborates to determine root causes.
  • Prioritizes rapid system recovery and timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to define requirements for Market Operations and advanced Network Applications.
  • Enhances mutual understanding of how technical solutions can address operational needs.
  • Implements, upgrades, refines, validates, and supports Day-Ahead Market, Real-Time Market, Market Quality Services, and related advanced operational applications.
  • Leads design, testing, and documentation efforts, including user training development when required.
  • Directs team activities, assigns daily tasks, and determines resource needs.
  • Mentors, coaches, and trains team members to improve performance and team effectiveness.
  • Supplies performance feedback to management for evaluation purposes.
  • May take part in hiring processes, including technical assessment of job candidates.
  • May serve in a temporary managerial capacity and assumes accountability in the manager's absence.
  • May be assigned expanded supervisory duties based on team requirements or succession planning
