Lead Consulting Engineer - Nuclear Safety
We are looking for a seasoned professional to lead nuclear safety initiatives, focusing on probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) for advanced reactors and small modular reactors (SMRs) across Europe. In this role, you will take ownership of high-level technical deliverables, guide safety case development, and support regulatory licensing processes. You'll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure robust, compliant, and innovative engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and review of probabilistic safety models and supporting nuclear safety analyses.
- Conduct safety evaluations, feasibility studies, and provide technical justification for licensing submissions.
- Collaborate with engineering and regulatory specialists across Europe to maintain consistency and quality in project delivery.
- Contribute to proposal writing, project scoping, and technical strategy for client bids.
- Support client relationship management by participating in technical discussions, reviews, and project planning sessions.
- Help expand the organization’s presence in the nuclear sector by identifying new opportunities and supporting business growth.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing across the global consulting network.
- Engage with international teams to align methodologies and support a coordinated delivery approach.
Qualifications and Experience
- Advanced degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in nuclear safety, with a strong focus on developing and applying PSA models.
- Fluency in English is required for clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Dutch is mandatory for regional engagement and documentation.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects under evolving conditions and deliver high-quality results.
- Experience in a matrixed, global organization with demonstrated collaboration across technical teams.
- Commercial awareness, including experience contributing to pricing, strategy, and bid development.
Preferred Background
- Direct experience in nuclear power plant systems, licensing, operations, or advanced reactor technologies.
- Background in engineering consulting with a client-facing delivery model.
- Project leadership skills, including managing concurrent technical assignments.
- Track record in business development, client retention, and account expansion.
