What You'll Do
- Supervise sterile compounding personnel and support staff, ensuring compliance with USP 797 and 800 guidelines and internal standard operating procedures.
- Train and assess new and current team members in essential practices including aseptic technique, garbing, hand hygiene, and cleanroom sanitation.
- Prepare sterile medications through accurate formulation and aseptic filling under the direction of a licensed pharmacist.
- Oversee routine cleanroom maintenance, including equipment calibration, sterilization, cleaning, and supply preparation on daily, weekly, and monthly schedules.
- Ensure proper documentation of all compounding and operational activities in alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with pharmacists and management on quality control, compliance issues, and team performance.
- Report cleanroom concerns promptly to designated pharmacy leadership.
- Use specialized equipment following pharmacist instructions and complete all required USP-related training.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in sterile compounding, or 1 year in sterile plus 1 year in nonsterile compounding.
- Active Certified Pharmacy Technician registration in Arizona and national CPhT certification.
- CSPT® certification or commitment to obtain it within the first year of employment.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively and work with minimal supervision.
- Full-time availability for a 40-hour workweek.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more years of sterile compounding experience, particularly transitioning from nonsterile to sterile environments, or at least one year of sterile-to-sterile compounding.
- Prior work in a sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing setting.
- One year of leadership experience in a compounding or pharmacy environment.
- Experience serving as a trainer for sterile or nonsterile compounding staff.
