Farmers Insurance seeks a part-time Law Clerk for a remote role supporting the Los Angeles staff counsel team. This position is designed for a second or third-year law student with an interest in civil litigation and insurance defense. You will conduct legal research, draft documents, and support case preparation while working approximately 20 hours per week.
What You'll Do
- Research laws, court decisions, documents, opinions, briefs, and other information related to cases.
- Analyze legal issues and apply appropriate legal principles to determine defenses, arguments, and litigation strategy.
- Prepare briefs, legal memoranda, and statements of issues, including suggestions or recommendations.
- Review filed complaints, petitions, or motions to determine the issues involved.
- Prepare responsive pleadings and correspondence.
- Assist and provide trial attorney support in preparing trial, mediation, and arbitration documents and binders.
- Attend court sessions, depositions, mediations, and trials to hear oral arguments and document necessary case information.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's Degree.
- You must be a second or third-year law student with an interest in civil litigation, personal injury, or insurance defense.
Team & Environment
You will work under the guidance and mentorship of an Attorney or Supervising Attorney.
