Lam Research is hiring a Lab Chemical Engineer to support engineering process improvement by solving contamination-related issues. You will deliver fast, trace-level impurities data and characterization by operating within the Metrology group.
What You'll Do
- Perform chemical sample preparation and analysis to support advanced engineering activities.
- Operate analytical instruments including ICP-MS, TXRF, VPD, ICP-OES, IC, and TPD.
- Prepare reports, provide data, and consult with product development communities.
- Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on analytical equipment.
- Contribute to new analytical capabilities and methods development.
- Fulfill service workflow requests for sample preparation and analysis, representing approximately 80% of the role.
- Maintain overall lab capabilities through regular instrument calibrations, preparing standards from reagents, and adhering to advanced test procedures.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
- 2+ years of experience operating analytical instruments such as ICPMS, ICP-OES, VPD, TXRF, and IC in related test fields.
- Hands-on experience with wet chemistry lab work, wafer VPD decomposition, and wafer surface scanning sample preparation.
- Good analytical development and equipment troubleshooting skills.
- Self-motivation, diligent work ethic, and proactive attitude.
Nice to Have
- Educational background in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
- Semiconductor analytical test lab experience.

Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation in the San Francisco Bay Area ranges from $27.88 to $59.62 per hour.
