The Colorado Outward Bound School (COBS) is hiring a Kitchen Manager for its Rocky Mountain Program (RMP). You will be a key member of the logistics team, reporting to the Associate Program Director (APD) of Logistics. Your work directly supports our mission to change lives through challenge and discovery by managing dining facilities and culinary operations for students and staff.
What You'll Do
- Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious and practical meals for up to 100 students, staff, and guests.
- Accommodate special diets and food preferences with reasonable, economic, and healthy alternatives.
- Ensure kitchen and dining areas maintain high cleanliness and sanitation standards, following all safety protocols.
- Restock the South Dining Hall kitchen as needed, manage food deliveries, and put away all orders upon receipt.
- Manage inventory and create bi-weekly food orders based on upcoming program needs and dietary requirements.
- Maintain accurate records and submit invoices to ensure strong accounting practices.
- Train, supervise, and mentor any staff supporting kitchen operations during the summer season.
- Report maintenance issues to the Facilities team.
- Participate in the RMP community by attending team meetings, program functions, and events.
- Commit to openly sharing and receiving feedback from colleagues.
What We're Looking For
- State Food Manager certification required, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Must have held a driver’s license for over 5 years with a clean driving record if operating COBS vehicles.
Nice to Have
- Kitchen management experience.
- Experience with menu and meal planning for large groups.
- Experience cooking for large groups, including safe food handling, kitchen sanitation, and nutritional accommodations.
- Experience working with youth and managing group dynamics.
