Responsibilities
- Help manage consolidated client transaction flows and take positions to absorb or reduce residual risk during favorable market conditions to enhance profit and loss outcomes.
- Develop expertise in less liquid currency corridors including NGN, KES, TZS, and XOF to provide competitive pricing despite market imbalances.
- Learn and adhere to established trading procedures to ensure all confirmed trades are legally enforceable and operationally sound.
- Support efficient capital use by assisting with value date alignment and verifying fund availability to meet payout commitments.
- Monitor various pricing sources such as Bloomberg and intraday market movements to maintain competitive exchange rate offerings.
- Identify chances to pair buyer and seller orders simultaneously to secure risk-free profit margins.
- Oversee the full daily trade lifecycle, from initial morning quotes to meeting evening settlement deadlines, with strict operational precision.
- Work with the Middle Office to ensure net positions are accurately recorded for compliance and safeguarding purposes.
- Review automated risk reports, assess overnight client activity, and confirm bank balances before market open for daily desk preparation.
- Adjust exchange rate spreads on automated systems to shield the firm from volatility during after-hours and weekend periods.
- Manage multiple institutional communication channels to assess intraday supply and demand conditions.
- Issue trade confirmations after deal execution to formalize notional amounts, exchange rates, and settlement dates.
- Conduct physical balance verifications in restricted markets to confirm funds are available before finalizing sales.
- Monitor client funding timelines and ensure foreign exchange transactions are settled within the required 24-hour window.
- Deliver real-time updates to the trading desk on price sensitivity and volume shifts at key rate levels.
- Serve as a liaison between the trading desk and Operations team to track fund movements across banking partners.
Requirements
- 1 to 3 years of experience in financial services, with basic knowledge of foreign exchange terms and pricing units.
- Bachelor’s degree, ideally in Finance, Economics, or a quantitative discipline.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort interpreting exchange rate fluctuations and complex datasets.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel for organizing and analyzing trading information.
- Ability to remain focused and professional in fast-paced, high-pressure communication settings.
- Basic understanding of risk management techniques and the discipline to track unrealized gains and losses.
- Full availability during operational hours, including early starts to align with global market openings.
