About the Role
Lead efforts to establish and maintain relationships with government entities across countries where atmospheric data collection via weather balloons occurs, ensuring legal and operational alignment.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with foreign government agencies on permitting for high-altitude balloon launches
- Navigate international regulations related to airspace and atmospheric research
- Secure launch approvals in diverse geopolitical environments
- Advise internal teams on compliance with national and international aviation standards
- Monitor changes in regulatory policies affecting stratospheric operations
- Prepare documentation for diplomatic and technical submissions
- Serve as primary liaison during government review processes
- Support expansion into new international launch regions
- Track authorization timelines and reporting requirements
- Develop templates for consistent cross-border communication
- Ensure data collection methods meet sovereign requirements
- Manage relationships with civil aviation authorities
- Facilitate discussions with science and technology ministries
- Address national security concerns related to balloon operations
- Maintain records of governmental correspondence and decisions
- Provide updates on international engagement progress
- Assist legal team with treaty interpretation
