About the Role
This position provides support in freight, warehouse, and purchasing operations with responsibilities spanning logistics, inventory tracking, and procurement assistance. The intern will engage in day-to-day operational tasks and contribute to process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Assist in monitoring freight movements and delivery schedules
- Support warehouse operations including inventory checks and material handling
- Help coordinate inbound and outbound shipments
- Track shipment statuses and update relevant records
- Maintain accurate documentation for logistics activities
- Support purchasing team with order processing
- Verify purchase orders against delivery receipts
- Assist in supplier communication for delivery follow-ups
- Collect and organize procurement data for analysis
- Participate in cycle counting and stock reconciliation
- Identify inefficiencies in warehouse workflows
- Update inventory databases with current stock levels
- Assist in evaluating freight cost reports
- Help prepare reports on logistics performance metrics
- Support implementation of process improvements
- Collaborate with team members on operational tasks
- Ensure compliance with internal logistics procedures
- Assist in resolving shipment discrepancies
- Track lead times for purchased materials
- Maintain files for purchasing and shipping records
- Support audits related to inventory and procurement
- Use software tools for data entry and reporting
- Follow safety protocols in warehouse environments
- Attend team meetings and training sessions
- Contribute to special projects as assigned
