Washington University in St. Louis seeks an Insurance/Billing Collection Assistant III for the Department of Medicine Business Office. This remote role involves performing advanced follow-up on insurance billing and collection activities to expedite payments for physician services.
What You'll Do
- Perform insurance follow-up billing and collection duties on various financial classifications to ensure timely and accurate payment.
- Review patient accounts to verify the accuracy of insurance, eligibility, and invoice resolution.
- Utilize Epic, system tools, and payer websites for claim submission, status, attachments, eligibility, and authorization inquiry.
- Make collection calls to insurance companies and patients to ensure timely claim payment.
- Contact insurance companies regarding payment posting and collection agencies regarding payment reports.
- Support the customer service unit by answering billing and collection questions.
- Assist with training new staff.
- Meet daily Quality Assurance and efficiency standards for working invoices, following best practices for one-touch resolution.
- Interact with management and staff to discuss issues.
- May act as Team Lead.
- Assist with special projects.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent high school certification, or a combination of education and experience.
- Three or more years of billing or insurance experience.
Nice to Have
- Associate degree.
