Washington University in St Louis is hiring an Insurance Billing/Collections Assistant III for its Surgery department. This remote position performs advanced billing and collection activities for physician's services and may act as a lead, guiding and training other team members.
What You'll Do
- Act as a Lead IBC Assistant, training and providing guidance to other IBC Assistants.
- Perform collection follow-up duties on specific financial classifications, such as commercial insurance, self-pay, Medicare, and Medicaid claims.
- Handle discounts, adjustments, and charge corrections.
- Make collection calls to insurance companies and patients to ensure timely payment of claims.
- Review remittance advices for rejection and accuracy of payment amounts.
- Verify accuracy and completeness of charge tickets, monitoring attachments for claims to obtain maximum reimbursements.
- Contact insurance companies regarding posting payments and collection agencies regarding payment reports.
- Respond to questions and requests from insurance companies.
- Support the customer service unit in answering billing and collection questions.
- Act as back-up support for Accounts Receivable staff during peak times, vacations, and illnesses.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
- 3 years of experience in billing or insurance.
