Washington University in St Louis is hiring a Certified Coder (Remote) for the Department of Medicine Business Office. You will review medical record documentation to determine appropriate billing codes and act as a lead, assisting other coders and working to increase physician awareness of documentation requirements.
What You'll Do
- Review documentation in records to identify facts necessary to select comprehensive diagnoses and procedures.
- Code evaluation and management to the appropriate CPT code and code diagnosis to the appropriate ICD-10 code.
- Meet with physicians to review documentation, resolve coding issues, and secure signatures.
- Act as lead person, assisting coders with medical terminology and policy interpretation.
- Assist with efforts to increase physician awareness of documentation requirements.
- Prepare case reports and initiate follow-up for the billing process.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Must have one of the following coding credentials: AHIMA (CCA, CCS, or CCS-P); AAPC (CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H, CPC-H-A, or one of the AAPC specialty-specific coding credentials).
Nice to Have
- Previous coding experience or experience equivalent to an associate’s degree in a related field.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
- Associate degree in Medical Coding & Billing.
- Skills in Computer Systems, ICD-10 Procedure Coding System, Medical Billing and Coding, Medical Terminology.
