Washington University in St. Louis seeks an Insurance Billing/Collections Assistant III to perform advanced billing and collections for physician's services within the Surgery department. This remote role involves ensuring timely payment of claims and may include lead responsibilities.
What You'll Do
- May act as a Lead IBC Assistant, providing training and guidance to other assistants.
- Perform collection follow-up on commercial insurance, self-pay, Medicare, and Medicaid claims.
- Handle discounts, adjustments, and charge corrections.
- Make collection calls to insurance companies and patients.
- Review remittance advices for payment accuracy and rejections.
- Verify completeness of charge tickets and monitor claim attachments.
- Contact insurance companies and collection agencies regarding payments.
- Respond to insurance company inquiries and support customer service on billing questions.
- Act as back-up support for Accounts Receivable staff during peak times.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent, or a combination of education and experience.
- 3 years of billing or insurance experience.
Nice to Have
- 2 years of post-secondary education.
- Skills in collections strategies, communication, computer literacy, handling confidential data, medical terminology, office equipment, and telephone systems.

- Compensation: $20.57 - $30.84 per hour.
