About the Role
The role involves leading the development and deployment of instrumentation and control systems, ensuring robust, safe, and efficient operation of energy technology platforms through engineering excellence and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Design and deploy instrumentation and control systems for energy technology platforms
- Develop control logic, schematics, and system architectures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems into broader engineering designs
- Specify sensors, actuators, and control hardware for system requirements
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations
- Lead troubleshooting and commissioning of control systems during deployment
- Maintain documentation for control system designs and configurations
- Support the development of human-machine interfaces and data acquisition systems
- Evaluate performance of control systems and recommend improvements
- Participate in hazard analyses and functional safety assessments
- Interface with vendors and suppliers for component selection and integration
- Contribute to the development of testing protocols for instrumentation
- Monitor system operations and support root cause analysis for failures
- Implement cybersecurity best practices in control system design
- Stay current with emerging technologies in automation and process control
- Support regulatory audits and verification processes
- Provide technical guidance during manufacturing and installation phases
- Assist in the creation of operation and maintenance manuals
- Work with quality assurance teams to validate system reliability
- Participate in design reviews and technical evaluations
Nice to Have
- Master's degree in engineering or related discipline
- Professional engineering licensure (PE)
- Experience with nuclear or advanced energy systems
- Certification in functional safety (e.g., CFSP)
- Hands-on experience with control system commissioning
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks for industrial systems
- Experience working in highly regulated environments
- Prior work with small modular reactor technologies
