The Brigham and Women's Hospital seeks a Registered Nurse to join our team in the Ambulatory Infusion area. As an Infusion Nurse, you will provide direct patient care on a 36-hour weekend schedule, which includes every Saturday, Sunday, and one weekday each week. What You'll Do
- Provide direct patient care and assess, plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive care plans.
- Administer medication safely and perform nursing procedures, including proficient IV insertion and central line access.
- Develop and evaluate educational and discharge plans for patients and families.
- Document patient care clearly and completely in compliance with standards.
- Set priorities and organize care for patients with varying acuity levels.
- Actively participate in unit-based and organizational quality management and safety programs.
- Collaborate professionally with patients, families, colleagues, and other disciplines.
- Assume responsibility for the unit in the absence of leadership personnel.
- Participate in the orientation of new staff and provide input into clinical evaluations.
- Contribute to nursing research and utilize findings in clinical practice.
- Adhere to and help interpret hospital and nursing policies.
What We're Looking For
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing with current Massachusetts registration.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing required for newly licensed nurses.
- Current or recent (within 3 years) proficient IV skills, including insertion.
- Current or recent (within 3 years) experience with Central Lines, including accessing.
- At least 1 year of Medical Surgical, Emergency Department, or Critical Care experience.
- Ability to work the required weekend rotation per the MNA contract.
- Demonstrated basic analytic thinking, observational skills, and the ability to set priorities.
- Ability to function under stress with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Effective skills in applying hospital standards in service, teamwork, communication, respect, and time management.
Nice to Have
- Ambulatory nursing experience.
- Ambulatory Infusion Center experience.
- Ambulatory EPIC experience.
- Membership in professional organizations.
- Certification in a specialty area.
Team & Environment
You will be functionally responsible for the supervision of other RNs, technical, and support personnel. You will report directly to a designated nurse manager or supervisor.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position. Primary locations include the Main Campus in Boston and 850 Boylston in Chestnut Hill, with potential work at other off-site locations.
