The University of Toronto is seeking an Infrastructure and Network Specialist to join our team. Reporting to the Director, Information Technology, you will be responsible for the effective implementation of new systems and technologies, including the planning, design, analysis, security, and maintenance of the overall networks and computing facilities for the university.
What You'll Do
- Plan and implement the expansion and enhancement of IT networks independently.
- Design and review highly complex virtual computing and storage infrastructure.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and test highly complex systems.
- Develop and update the architectural framework for highly complex and confidential IT systems.
- Serve as a technical resource on specific issues for a group of specialists.
- Advise on cost, feasibility, and impact of different implementation solutions.
- Develop and edit standard operating procedures for IT services.
- Monitor accounts for projects and lead the planning of IT projects.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of five years of relevant experience in a network and systems administrator capacity within a complex, highly networked, and heterogeneous environment.
- In-depth, advanced experience with Linux and Windows servers.
- Proven experience in network planning, design, and implementation.
- At least two years of proven experience with complex, diverse, structured research computing intake and support in an academic environment.
- Experience with deploying and configuring virtualized environments including VDI and containers.
- Experience with back-up and storage administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
- In-depth experience working with a range of computing environments, equipment, and software including cloud technologies, Unix/Linux (workstations, servers), Windows (servers, terminal services), Internet services (email, Samba), networking and security, and virtualized servers (proxmox).
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with ServiceNow.
- Experience with the SentinelOne Security Platform.
- Familiarity with HP/Aruba network devices.
- Familiarity with the University environment, governance, and policies.
- Proven experience with Data Centre IT.

Benefits & Compensation
- Salary: $103,367 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $132,188.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position located at the St. George (Downtown Toronto) campus.
