As an Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Manager, you will design, implement, and oversee IPC initiatives within healthcare projects in resource-limited environments. Your work will focus on safeguarding patients, caregivers, and medical teams by establishing effective infection control practices aligned with international standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and sustain comprehensive IPC programs adapted to local conditions and MSF protocols
- Ensure consistent application of standard and transmission-based precautions across all clinical areas
- Supervise and train multidisciplinary staff on IPC practices and compliance
- Monitor water, sanitation, waste management, and hygiene infrastructure critical to infection control
- Lead audits, performance reviews, and feedback cycles to drive continuous improvement
- Collaborate with service managers using checklists, guidelines, and training tools to strengthen IPC compliance
- Engage with communities to adapt interventions to cultural and contextual needs
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a degree in nursing, medicine, public health, epidemiology, or microbiology, along with a minimum of two years of clinical experience in healthcare settings. Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is required. Experience managing teams, working autonomously in austere environments, and functioning within diverse teams is essential.
Preferred qualifications include prior work in low-resource or humanitarian contexts, critical care units, outbreak response, antimicrobial stewardship, sterilization processes, safe medication practices, and surveillance for healthcare-associated infections such as SSI, CAUTI, CLABSI, and PIV-related infections. Proficiency in French (B2 or higher) is an asset.
Work Environment
Assignments are based onsite in active MSF project locations, often in conflict or post-crisis regions. Living and working conditions are basic, with extended hours and high operational demands. Commitment to a 9–12 month field assignment is required.
