Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire a team of sewing machine operators, offering guidance to meet production targets.
- Train new team members in sewing methods, equipment use, and safety procedures to maintain consistent quality.
- Oversee production flow and processes, adapting schedules and task assignments to enhance efficiency and meet deadlines.
- Examine completed products for quality and compliance with specifications, resolving defects and applying corrective measures.
- Step in as a sewing operator when needed for custom or specialized orders.
- Operate industrial sewing machines—including single and double needle, union special, automated, and bar tacking models—to join, reinforce, or embellish materials like webbing, labels, and Velcro.
- Demonstrate high proficiency in complex or multiple sewing operations across at least two product lines, with capability to configure new production lines.
- Configure, calibrate, and run laser cutting equipment for precise material shaping and cutting.
- Review technical blueprints and work instructions to determine accurate cutting parameters.
- Adjust machine settings based on material properties and job specifications to ensure optimal performance.
- Enforce safety standards and lead regular safety training to maintain a secure work environment.
- Track and document production data, reporting team performance, output metrics, and quality concerns to management.
- Identify areas for operational improvement and work with leadership to develop and implement SOPs and best practices.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent education
- 3 to 5 years of industrial sewing experience
- Skilled in using various industrial sewing machines and knowledgeable about fabric types and stitching techniques
- Proven leadership and team development abilities
- Ability to compute proportions, percentages, and volumes
- Proficient in basic arithmetic across all units of measure
- Capable of measuring parts accurately using a tape measure
- Frequently lifts or moves up to 10 pounds; occasionally handles up to 25 pounds
Nice to Have
- Additional training in sewing or textile manufacturing
- One or more years in a supervisory or leadership capacity
- Fluent in both English and Spanish
