Kafene offers a summer internship for a graduate student to gain hands-on biotechnology research experience focused on neuroscience and in vivo neurophysiology within drug development. You will support neurophysiological research and methods development using advanced techniques while being part of a company passionate about relieving suffering for people with great needs.
What You'll Do
- Support neurophysiological research and methods development.
- Work with techniques such as functional ultrasound (fUS) or preclinical functional neuroimaging.
- Work with techniques such as rodent electrophysiology (EEG, LFP, single-unit recordings).
- Work with techniques such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).
- Work with techniques such as in vivo pharmacology and behavioral assays.
- Interact with other research and clinical teams within the company.
- Collaborate with a mentor team of cross-functional team members and other interns.
- Complete a special project and present recommendations to senior management.
What We're Looking For
- Must be currently pursuing a graduate degree in neuroscience, physiology, biomedical engineering or a related field.
- Experience performing in vivo neurophysiological research in a laboratory setting using techniques such as those listed in the responsibilities.
- Ability to commit to a 10-week, full-time summer program.
- Lab work requirements: Full-time.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Familiarity with biopharmaceutical technologies, physical and life sciences, product development, and regulatory approval processes.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to think creatively and be a team player.
- Offer flexibility with a willingness to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Bring to the company a skill set complementary to its technology and development therapeutics.
- Interest in attending various program events, including social gatherings and career development workshops.
