About the Role

The General Hospital Corporation is hiring an Imaging Tech with a preference for MRI proficiency to join our team at Nantucket Cottage Hospital. As part of Mass General Brigham, our not-for-profit mission supports exceptional patient care, research, and community service. In this role, you will be the first line of interaction for patients' imaging needs, performing procedures according to strict protocols and standards.

What You'll Do

  • Position patients and set technical factors for all diagnostic radiographic, CT, MRI, or mammography procedures.
  • Follow department exam protocols, modifying them based on patient physical and cognitive abilities as needed.
  • Greet patients, confirm identification, review imaging requests, and check for special instructions.
  • Accurately label all exams with patient ID, date, technologist ID, and time.
  • Adhere to hospital policies and regulatory standards to ensure patient safety and compliance.
  • Maintain aseptic procedures and infection control guidelines.
  • Assess patient pain interfering with imaging and make appropriate physician contact.
  • Assist Radiologists with therapeutic procedures and educate patients and families.
  • Document all medication reactions and verify study accuracy in PACS prior to Radiologist interpretation.
  • Operate CT and MRI equipment according to protocol, performing IV insertion for contrast injection.
  • Screen patients for MRI contraindications and check labs for Gadolinium contraindications.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance for Mammography, coordinating activities for accreditation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including on-call, second shift, and weekend hours.

What We're Looking For

  • Graduate of a program accredited by JRCERT.
  • ARRT (R) and ARRT (CT), or ARRT (M), or ARRT (MR) registration is required.
  • Must be registered, proficient, and able to work unsupervised in 2 modalities.
  • Current applicable state licenses.
  • BLS/CPR certification required within one week of hire (AHA & ARC accepted).
  • Adequate technical skills and judgment to function unsupervised during on-call and off-hours.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients under stress.
  • Analytical ability to acquire and utilize knowledge of imaging processes and techniques.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing pace and frequent interruptions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of computer operations for patient information (CPSI, PACS).
  • Awareness of departmental hazards and adherence to safety standards.
  • Ability to relay information concisely to staff, patients, and other hospital personnel.

This is an onsite position located at Nantucket Cottage Hospital.
