About the Role

HF Sinclair Corporation is seeking a strategic Human Resources Business Partner to serve as a key partner to our refinery organization in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In this role, you will align people strategies with business goals while maintaining responsibility for essential HR operational processes. You will independently lead initiatives related to workforce planning, employee relations, organizational development, and culture.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as an HR advisor to frontline and mid-level leaders on workforce planning, organizational development, performance management, and employee engagement.
  • Build trusted relationships with business leaders to understand operational challenges and proactively recommend HR solutions.
  • Identify trends and root causes related to turnover, employee relations, culture, and organizational effectiveness; propose action plans to address findings.
  • Facilitate change management efforts to help leaders and employees adapt to organizational shifts, policy updates, and cultural initiatives.
  • Administer and support key HR programs including performance management, benefits education, attendance, FMLA/leave management, and policy compliance.
  • Coordinate local onboarding, orientation, and benefits-related activities for new hires and newly eligible employees.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and company HR policies and regulations, preparing required documentation and reports with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Partner with Centers of Excellence (COEs) and HR Operations to implement and continuously improve HR processes, tools, and systems.
  • Oversee payroll preparation for assigned subsidiary employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Review, validate, and resolve questions related to time and attendance entries, partnering with Operations and Maintenance personnel to correct discrepancies.
  • Administer employee job progressions, reviewing eligibility, validating competency and time‑in‑role requirements, and coordinating with supervisors.
  • Provide consultation and guidance on employee relations matters, managing sensitive and complex issues with senior HR personnel as needed.
  • Conduct fair, thorough, and timely investigations into workplace concerns and recommend compliant corrective actions.
  • Lead refinery-wide employee experience and union‑avoidance initiatives to strengthen communication, engagement, and trust.
  • Coach and mentor managers to strengthen leadership capability, build accountability, and promote consistent policy application.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional HR projects focused on process improvement, compliance, culture, and operational efficiency.
  • Represent the HR function in meetings, committees, and refinery initiatives to integrate HR perspectives into business planning.
  • Respond to routine employee inquiries related to benefits, retirement, performance, attendance, policies, and terminations.
  • May oversee and mentor HR Generalist‑level employees as needed based on business demands.
  • Carry out special assignments or projects as directed by the HR Manager or leadership.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including exposure to employee relations, coaching, and HR administration.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related technical field is required, or 4 years of related work experience in lieu of the degree.
  • Ability to deal constructively with problems that do not have defined solutions and maintain a calm, productive influence in times of uncertainty.
  • Acts with a clear sense of ownership and follows through on commitments.
  • Builds strong formal and informal relationships within HF Sinclair and leverages them to develop solutions.
  • Admits mistakes, gains insights from experiences, and reflects on how personal style impacts others.
  • Builds trust through a direct and truthful approach.
  • Advanced knowledge of general Human Resources principles and ability to apply this knowledge as it pertains to the company.
  • Advanced skill level in Excel, Word, Outlook, and HRIS applications.
  • Ability to handle confidential information, including Protected Health Information (PHI), and understand relevant HIPAA regulations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate effectively in ambiguous situations and make sound decisions without clear guidelines.
  • Maintains a positive, solution‑focused mindset and exhibits high emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to read and appropriately interpret information from multiple sources.

Nice to Have

  • Professional certifications such as SHRM – SCP, SPHR, GPHR, CCP, GRP, CEBS or other similar external certifications.

Work Mode

This is an onsite position located at our Tulsa, Oklahoma refinery.
