Backblaze is seeking an HR Administrator to support day-to-day people operations and administrative work across the entire employee lifecycle. This hands-on role partners closely with the HR Operations Specialist to ensure smooth onboarding, accurate records, and consistent execution of core HR processes. You will be integral to supporting a growing People function, focusing on coordination, organization, and efficient process execution.
What You'll Do
- Coordinate pre-boarding tasks for new hires, including system access, documentation, and readiness checks.
- Schedule orientation sessions and prepare onboarding materials.
- Maintain and evolve new hire checklists, tracking task completion for a smooth experience.
- Provide first-level support for employee benefits inquiries and support benefits administration tasks like enrollments.
- Monitor and manage the HR inbox, responding to routine inquiries and routing complex issues.
- Prepare and process HR documents such as Separation Agreements and employment verifications.
- Maintain digital personnel files, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Support HRIS data entry, updates, and routine audits.
- Maintain HR documentation and internal confluence pages.
- Track completion of compliance trainings and acknowledgments.
- Assist with internal audits and reporting by gathering documents and supporting data cleanup.
- Provide administrative assistance to the Human Resources team.
- Help coordinate HR events, training sessions, and small employee programs.
What We're Looking For
- 1-2 years in an HR administrative, coordinator, or operations support role.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Comfort handling confidential employee information with discretion.
- Working knowledge of U.S. employee benefits (medical, 401(k), leave policies) and ability to support routine employee inquiries.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative style, a desire to build efficient, people-centered processes, and a solutions-oriented attitude.
- Able to learn quickly, manage multiple tasks, and maintain confidentiality.
- Comfortable with change and eager to grow with evolving systems and company needs.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with HR systems such as Greenhouse, Rippling, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with ticketing or inbox management tools (Jira, shared inboxes, etc.).
- Experience maintaining internal documentation (Confluence, Google Suite, etc.).
