Lead the daily management of residential programs for high school participants in a summer academic initiative. This position plays a central role in maintaining a secure, structured, and welcoming living environment while supporting student growth and community engagement.
What You'll Do
Supervise student staff members, conduct regular check-ins, and coordinate team meetings to ensure consistent support for residential participants. Oversee move-in and move-out logistics, manage sign-in/sign-out procedures, and respond to housing needs such as room changes and curfew compliance. Conduct nightly rounds and monitor quiet hours to uphold program standards.
Lead orientation and community-building activities, chaperone field trips, and coordinate transportation, dining, and snack logistics for off-site academic excursions. Serve as a primary contact during trips to ensure student safety and engagement. Respond to behavioral concerns by documenting incidents, conducting follow-ups, and applying appropriate resolutions in line with established conduct policies.
Address maintenance issues by reporting and tracking facility concerns in collaboration with campus teams. Manage emergency situations, including health-related or safety incidents, and maintain up-to-date student emergency contact records. Transport students to medical facilities when necessary and fulfill on-call duties outside regular hours.
Requirements
- Enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and handle sensitive information with discretion
- Availability for night and weekend responsibilities throughout the program period
- No concurrent academic courses, jobs, or external commitments permitted during the role
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate university vehicles
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in residence life, youth supervision, or student leadership programs
- Proven leadership, problem-solving, and crisis response abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Background in mentoring student employees
- Knowledge of FERPA, Title IX, and Clery Act guidelines
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain before program start
