Practicebetter is hiring a Hospice Billing Specialist to safeguard revenue through precise billing and compliance. You will play a vital role in ensuring the financial integrity of hospice operations by managing claims and collaborating with clinical and operational teams.
What You'll Do
- Implement and adhere to established Hospice billing Standard Operating Procedures.
- Prepare, review, and submit hospice claims accurately and timely for all payor types.
- Ensure proper billing of all hospice levels of care, including Routine Home Care and General Inpatient Care.
- Verify timely Notice of Election submission and ensure all required certifications are compliant.
- Review documentation for accurate revenue codes, occurrence codes, and length of stay compliance.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve billing edits, claim rejections, denials, and payment discrepancies.
- Collaborate with Branch Directors, Clinical Managers, and Admissions teams to obtain missing documentation.
- Accurately document billing coordination notes in the EMR for effective team communication.
- Upload remittance advices and supporting documentation into the EMR.
- Monitor and reconcile payments, identifying underpayments or overpayments.
- Meet or exceed established productivity and quality benchmarks.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and financial data per HIPAA.
- Support audit preparedness for Medicare and third-party payor reviews.
- Participate in ongoing education on hospice reimbursement and regulatory changes.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operational excellence.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of one (1) year of healthcare billing experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple billing cycles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and billing software systems.
Nice to Have
- Hospice billing experience strongly preferred.
- Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field.
