About the Role

Practicebetter is hiring a Hospice Billing Specialist to safeguard revenue through precise billing and compliance. You will play a vital role in ensuring the financial integrity of hospice operations by managing claims and collaborating with clinical and operational teams.

What You'll Do

  • Implement and adhere to established Hospice billing Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Prepare, review, and submit hospice claims accurately and timely for all payor types.
  • Ensure proper billing of all hospice levels of care, including Routine Home Care and General Inpatient Care.
  • Verify timely Notice of Election submission and ensure all required certifications are compliant.
  • Review documentation for accurate revenue codes, occurrence codes, and length of stay compliance.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve billing edits, claim rejections, denials, and payment discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with Branch Directors, Clinical Managers, and Admissions teams to obtain missing documentation.
  • Accurately document billing coordination notes in the EMR for effective team communication.
  • Upload remittance advices and supporting documentation into the EMR.
  • Monitor and reconcile payments, identifying underpayments or overpayments.
  • Meet or exceed established productivity and quality benchmarks.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and financial data per HIPAA.
  • Support audit preparedness for Medicare and third-party payor reviews.
  • Participate in ongoing education on hospice reimbursement and regulatory changes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support operational excellence.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum of one (1) year of healthcare billing experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple billing cycles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and billing software systems.

Nice to Have

  • Hospice billing experience strongly preferred.
  • Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field.

Work Mode

This is a remote position open to candidates residing in Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Arizona, or Florida.
