WSP USA Inc. is hiring a High Voltage Transmission Line Project Manager

About the Role

WSP USA Inc. is seeking a High Voltage Transmission Line Project Manager to provide technical supervision and leadership for high voltage and extra-high voltage transmission line projects. You will oversee the administrative, commercial, and technical execution, managing overall project performance throughout the entire lifecycle.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee cross-functional engineering, design, and construction teams delivering HV/EHV transmission line projects, managing budgets, schedules, deliverables, and compliance.
  • Contribute to the development of project proposals, including cost estimates, scopes of work, routing strategies, environmental assumptions, and resource plans.
  • Develop work breakdown structures (WBS) and cost-loaded CPM schedules for all project phases including engineering, permitting, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Establish technical and design review levels, select qualified engineering staff, and ensure compliance with QA/QC plans, utility standards, NESC requirements, and environmental regulations.
  • Contribute to project margin analysis, establish margin targets, and develop risk registers and contingency plans.
  • Coordinate with Project Accounting to monitor earned value, cost performance, cash flow, invoicing, and budgeted margin.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, CPM scheduling, cost control, and change management for design and construction projects.
  • Coordinate with area managers to address project resource and subcontracting requirements.
  • Immediately communicate and escalate any project site Health & Safety or significant client issues to senior leadership.
  • Provide regular project reporting and updates to clients and management, identifying emergent issues.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and unbilled revenue, addressing issues as needed.
  • Complete formal project closeout activities and conduct lessons-learned meetings.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Power Systems, Civil), Engineering Technology, Science, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 7–10 years of progressive post-education experience in a project management role delivering high voltage and/or extra-high voltage electrical transmission & distribution, or utility-scale power delivery projects.
  • Direct project management experience delivering HV/EHV transmission line projects from routing and engineering through construction, commissioning, and energization.
  • Well-developed analytical and organizational skills, with business acumen to bridge business and project management.
  • Competent critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, including assessing technical, schedule, cost, and risk impacts.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others.
  • Demonstrated self-leadership and accountability, with strong attention to detail and adaptability in a fast-paced power delivery environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight, while providing guidance and leadership to junior project managers, engineers, and technical staff.
  • Competent with technical writing, office automation, relevant software, MS Office suite products (e.g., Word, Excel, Visio, Project, SharePoint), and project management tools.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating resources and assertively directing consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and others.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Nice to Have

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering.
  • Essential project management certification (e.g., PMP, CAP-M).
