Unknown Company is hiring a High School Special Education Teacher

About the Role

Stride, Inc. (K12) is looking for a High School Special Education Teacher to provide state-certified instruction in a virtual environment. You will manage the learning process for students with disabilities, focusing on the individual needs defined in each student's Individual Education Program (IEP). This role is based at our partner school, Michigan Great Lakes Virtual Academy (MGLVA).

What You'll Do

  • Ensure all special education and related services are provided as determined by the IEP team.
  • Communicate with parents and related service staff to ensure students receive appropriate therapies.
  • Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and other state-specific special education documentation.
  • Facilitate and lead collaborative special education meetings such as annual IEP reviews.
  • Use provided resources to ensure accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities.
  • Make modifications and accommodations to Stride K12 lessons and assessments as specified by the IEP.
  • Ensure inclusion and success of the student in the general education classroom.
  • Collect data and work samples to monitor student progress towards IEP goals.
  • Document all contact with parents and interventions with students.
  • Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment as needed.
  • Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences.
  • Maintain grade books, make promotion decisions, and alert administrators to performance concerns.
  • Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests.
  • Establish and maintain positive rapport with families, communicating in a timely manner.
  • Support learning coaches and parents with curricular issues and basic troubleshooting.
  • Travel up to 20% of the time for professional development, testing, and school requirements.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Active state teaching license.
  • Michigan Teaching Certification with a Special Education endorsement.
  • Ability to clear required background check.
  • Ability to work collaboratively to interpret student data and drive instructional decisions.
  • Receptive to receiving regular coaching from administrators.
  • Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week.
  • Ability to maintain a professional, distraction-free home office during the workday.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with the proposed age group.
  • Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology.
  • Experience teaching in online (virtual) and/or brick-and-mortar environments.
  • Experience with an online learning platform.

  • Anticipated salary range: $26,104.00 - $68,361.27 with a base salary around $51,000.
