Orono Public Schools is hiring a High School Social Studies Teacher for a 1.0 FTE teaching position at Orono High School. You will be responsible for implementing best practice teaching strategies, establishing learner goals aligned with the district's mission, and supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of high school students.
What You'll Do
- Implement best practice teaching and learning strategies into the social studies content area.
- Establish individual learner goals that reflect the District's mission and values.
- Work collaboratively with department members to support the academic, social, and emotional growth of high school students.
- Collaborate with other teachers to design and coordinate assessments and utilize data to target student needs.
- Participate in regular PLC meetings as an active and engaged professional.
- Communicate frequently with parents, colleagues, students, and administrators through all available means of technology.
- Establish and maintain high standards for character growth.
What We're Looking For
- A Current Minnesota Teaching License.
- A high level of content expertise in social studies.
- Demonstrated ability to support critical thinking in meaningful discourse within the content area.
- Effective classroom management skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in collaboration and problem-solving.
- Experience with curriculum and assessment design.
- Understanding of the role of parent involvement and the ability to collaborate with parents.
- Ability to use technology as an instructional tool.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with high school students.
