Educational Service District 112 is hiring a Special Education Paraeducator to provide direct support to students with disabilities in a school setting. In this role, you'll work collaboratively under the guidance of a Special Education Teacher to implement individual education plans and foster student growth.
What You'll Do
- Assist the Special Education Teacher with lesson plan preparation, one-on-one and small group instruction, and classroom management, all consistent with IEP or IFSP goals.
- Supervise students and provide positive behavior management support.
- Collect data, report on student progress, and maintain accurate records.
- Communicate with staff and parents as directed by the Special Education Teacher.
- Attend to students' physical needs, including positioning and assisting with personal hygiene.
- Participate in staff meetings, in-service programs, and education team activities.
What We're Looking For
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Fulfillment of one educational requirement: an Associate's Degree, 48 semester or 72 quarter college credits, a passing score of 455 on the ParaPro Assessment, a passing score of 220 on the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment, or a 65% on The Master Teacher, Inc. Paraeducator Online Training Program.
- Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
- A commitment to meet Washington State Core Competencies for paraeducators within three years of employment.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience in a special education classroom setting.
- Knowledge of programs and services for students with disabilities.
Team & Environment
You will report directly to the Special Education Teacher and participate as a key member of the educational support team.
Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation is $21.27 - $26.31 per hour, with offers made at the beginning of the range.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position located at Kalama Elementary.
