Stride, Inc. (K12) is hiring a High School Social Studies Teacher. You will be a highly qualified, state-certified educator responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. This role focuses on providing instruction, support, and guidance, personalizing learning for all students, and managing the learning process. You will work from home, with travel required for occasional school functions.
What You'll Do
- Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences.
- Commit to personalizing learning for all students.
- Differentiate instruction based on student level of mastery.
- Augment course content using appropriate asynchronous and synchronous tools.
- Maintain grade book ensuring academic integrity and make student placement decisions.
- Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests.
- Establish and maintain positive rapport with families and communicate in a timely manner.
- Support learning coaches/parents with curricular and instructional issues.
- Travel as required (approximately 20% of the time) for professional development and school requirements.
- Monitor student progress through the Stride K12 learning management system.
- Work closely with students and parents to advance each student’s learning toward goals.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree.
- Active state teaching license.
- New Mexico High School Social Studies Teaching Certification (or proof of NM license application within 7 days of start and obtain NM license within 90 days).
- Ability to clear required background check.
- Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week.
- Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during a typical 9-5 (or 8-4) workday.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with the proposed age group.
- Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology.
- Experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or in a brick-and-mortar environment.
- Experience with online learning platforms.
- Ability to work collaboratively to interpret and produce numeric and graphic student data to drive instruction.
- Receptive to receiving coaching regularly with administrators and teacher trainers.
- Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint.
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
- Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems.
